Redi-Exit Egress (Safety) Windows

You can turn any bedroom window into an emergency escape window with the addition of a REDI-EXIT® Hinged Egress Window and a REDIEXIT® Fire Escape or Basement Egress Window Well. 3,500 to 4,000 people perish in home fires annually, while another 15,000 to 21,000 are injured. Half of these deaths occur at night when people are a sleep and get trapped in their bedroom, without a second way to exit in the event a fire blocks their normal escape route.

Since September of 1973 building codes require that in all new construction, every sleeping room have at least one operable emergency escape or egress window with a clear opening equal to or exceeding 5.7 square feet. The code
requires that the maximum allowable distance of a window sill off the floor is 44 inches to be acceptable as an emergency escape window or an egress window.
